Sharon came to the mat after an extensive knee injury while running. She had been advised to have a Total Knee Replacement and in a course of seeking God’s guidance turned for a second opinion, the recommendation was yoga. Over the 3-1/2 years that she has been practicing, she has experienced miraculous changes that have significantly improved not only the injured knee, but overall health. In the course of practicing yoga, Sharon also found a profound spiritual connection; using breath, movement, stillness, and meditation united with Scripture deepened her relationship with God. Sharon, a 30-year Registered Nurse, while recognizing the importance of modern medicine seeks to bridge the gap between science and faith for students to use yoga for healing and health. Sharon is a Registered Yoga Teacher -200 hour and a Registered Christian Yoga Master Trainer. In her Power Vinyasa classes she leads with the intention of honoring God and encourages students to utilize the practice as an opportunity to practice in a way of reclaiming the Biblical principles of whole worship; Acts 17:28a says, “In Him we move and breathe and have our being.”
When not practicing yoga, Sharon stays busy with her husband, Mark, three adult children, and four grandbabies. She also has furry children. Sharon is also involved in an Outdoor/Backpacking Ministry, church, several community groups, teaches health related courses, and regularly practices Nursing in different venues and roles.
